About the Teacher/Welcome Msg

Welcome to my class. My name is Tammy Haire. I have been married to David Haire for 25 years. We are blessed to have one daughter, Ally. She is a Senior at DCHS. We are very proud of her. We have 2 cats, Pandy and Cali.

I have been teaching 2nd grade 17 years in DeSoto County. I have been raised in Southaven. I graduated from Southaven High School in 1987.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me. The best way is through Remind. I am so excited about this year and together we can make it a GREAT one!!

week 9

The school building is CLOSED for the remainder of the year according to our governor and district leaders.  Students will continue with distance learning.

Distance learning looks somewhat different for 2nd grade than it might for the upper grades. We have been instructed to help students review the standards that they have already been taught. I want you all to know that I am available to help your child anytime from 8:30 a.m - 4:30 p.m. You can always contact me via email or through Remind. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOUR CHILD CAN DO DURING OUR DISTANCE LEARNING IS TO READ, READ, READ. I will be making suggestions weekly for my students to keep their skills sharp in reading, math & writing.  Any assignment completed at home is just practice. I will be available to help any of my students that need it throughout the day. Please call me. I am truly happy to help. I always have parents say "I'm sorry to bother you". Please know that I live and breathe to teach! I am going crazy sitting at home. I was so ready to go back after spring break and make the BIG PUSH for the final 9 weeks. Unfortunately, C-19 has turned our world upside down. I understand how difficult this is for my parents as well. Some of you have multiple children at home, each trying to strengthen their skills as well. Second grade kids should probably work on school "lessons" or apps 1-2 hours a day. I want you all to know how much I appreciate you as parents and teachers. The phrase "It takes a village" has never had more meaning than in today's world. Please tell my kiddos how much I miss & love them. I pray everyday that we will return to school and roll on with education and some sort of normalcy. I pray that each of you are in good health & stay safe!
